Fleurie

[Français]

A vibrant red in colour, with a rich, velvety texture and an elegant mix of fruit and floral aromas such as iris, violet, summer roses, peach, blackcurrants and red fruits, one could almost say Fleurie wines have all the qualities of springtime in that region. They are often considered to be the most feminine of the Crus, perhaps in part due to the Madonna of Fleurie, who appears to keep a watchful eye over the vines from her perch on the hill. Serve at 13°C, with lamb, poultry and white meats. Average annual production: 49 000 hl Average number of bottles: 6,5 million Area under vine: 870 hectares Soil type: granite
